Situation
The homeowners have a basement bathroom and bedroom that are separated by a wall which prevents good access from the bedroom to the bathroom. There is a hallway directly south of the bathroom, and another wall that separates the bedroom from access to that part of the basement.

Problem
The homeowners want there to be direct access from the bedroom to the bathroom without walking into public view.
Things to be considered
Since the toilet and vanity are on the South Wall, it makes it a more complex solution than putting a wall in the hallway that makes a private hallway to the bathroom. The homeowners may have some cost restrictions that would prevent us from being able to do any rearranging of the toilet and vanity.
Potential Solutions
Plan A: The bedroom has a closet in the top right corner, which could be potentially moved to fit in the hallway above it. This closet would have doors in the middle of it that would connect the bedroom to the bathroom. The previous door would stay in the bathroom. This solution would require moving the plumbing utilities to the opposite wall. It would also get rid of an awkward hallway space.

Plan B: The second solution would be to add a door to the North Wall of the bedroom and keep the existing door for the bathroom. The closet would move out of the top corner of the bedroom and be moved to the hallway nook. This would be a cost-effective solution, but it wouldn’t answer the need for a private walkway between the bathroom and bedroom.

Outcome:
We created a situation similar to Plan B, but were able to create a scenario where the bathroom would have closer access to the bathroom and could be accessed from the otherside of the basement as well. By moving the bedroom top-wall down, this also allowed the furnace room to be accessed direclty without going through the bedroom. The nook above the bedroom closet will be used for a built in sauna.
